I am encountering significant performance challenges in both the web browser and standalone software versions of Butterdocs while working on a document nearing 72,000 words. This includes substantial lag during editing and navigating between text sections, with parts of the document momentarily disappearing during scrolling. My computer has ample storage, indicating that the issue lies with the application’s handling of large documents.
To improve this, I propose a feature for collapsing chapters to lighten the load on the software. Alternatively, guidance on a recommended maximum document length would be beneficial for users to plan and manage their projects effectively.
These enhancements aim to leverage Butterdocs’ user-friendly interface while optimizing its performance for handling extensive writing projects.

Hi there, large documents should not affect performance. Could you send a screenshot of the app you are looking at to support@butterdocs.com, so that we can investigate further, please? (We need to see which sidebars/toolbars/etc. are visible).
That said, we will soon release a feature where you can hide everything except for a specific block/chapter/etc. in your document anyway.
